COMMUNITY CONVERSATION

From Chaos to Creativity

Building Cooperative Community CULTURE in a Divided World

With Jason Nious

October 4, 2023 · 9-11 am PT

Registration is now closed, but more Community Conversations will be held the first Wednesday of each month, September - December, 2023. Learn more.

What is CULTURE?  Culture is the way WE do THINGS around HERE.

Culture changes from day to day, place to place, and person to person.

We each have our individual backgrounds, beliefs and “scripts” that are wired into our brains and consequently our actions and reactions. When these scripts sometimes get in the way of our overall goals as a community, chaos ensues and problems begin to look insurmountable.

How can we effectively get a group of people from all walks of life on the same page? How can we complete a project in a defined amount of time when I don't know or trust my colleagues? How can I feel like my voice and contributions have been heard and taken into consideration? How will we ever come together and...just get along?

As a teaching artist, Jason Nious moves through a process from chaos to creativity in order to cut through the noise and get classrooms focused as a team while reinforcing their contributions to the group.  More than ever, creating a cooperative classroom community where students feel they belong and that their voice matters is crucial. Creativity is the outcome of your authentic voice being rooted in a place of truth, expressed, shared and supported along the way by your community.

This conversation will expand upon this method while making space for participants to share some of their own methods and best practices in breaking through the culture wars that keep us divided.

Bioneers brings together a diverse, discerning, engaged and reflective community, and the curated conversations we host around crucial topics are highly popular and stimulating.

Each session begins with a brief presentation by a noted thought leader as a conversation starter to frame the topic. Structured group discussion follows, supported by world-class facilitators. The conversation and event wraps with a poetic synthesis of the conversation performed by a talented spoken word artist.

Join us to connect, inspire and be inspired by the collaborative community of Bioneers.
